Hotel Raya is a legendary boutique resort located on the stunning island of Panarea. Spread across three villas (Raya Alto, Raya Basso, and Raya Peppe Maria), the hotel blends minimal Mediterranean style with lush gardens and panoramic views of the sea and Stromboli volcano.
Each of the 34 rooms and suites features a unique design with whitewashed walls, handcrafted ceramics, and wide terraces overlooking the sea or gardens. All include air conditioning, minibar, Wi‑Fi, and tea & coffee set.
The hotel’s geothermal-heated infinity pool is a true highlight, offering a spectacular panorama of the Aeolian archipelago. A large whirlpool tub surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation adds to the relaxing atmosphere.
Raya’s restaurant serves fresh seafood and local produce in a refined yet informal setting. The rooftop bar is ideal for sunset cocktails and relaxed evenings under the stars, often accompanied by DJ sets.
At night, the hotel transforms with its famous open-air nightclub. Dance under the stars with curated music in a chic island atmosphere—reserved for guests and select invitees.

His Opinion: I had visited the Raya in 2010. When we arrived we were upgraded which was very nice.
Overall I feel the Hotel Raya is over trading on its reputation. The staff are excellent but the quality of the food and the environmental policies of the Raya are not good. For example the breakfast yogurt is in a plastic pot ( like you would buy in a supermarket) and the jams in little jars. Too much packaging. Also our towels were changed everyday. Not necessary if you want to save water.
The quality to value is not correct. We spent 3 weeks in 10 different Hotels and the Raya was certainly not high on our lists and if we were returning to Panarea we would book an alternative.

His Opinion: We had an amazing time at Raya. The Hotel staff and facilities were excellent and charming across the board. The room was beautifully situated with an exquisite view. My only comment is that the room itself was slightly underwhelming, with a small and flimsy bed and very average bathroom. Also the Wi-Fi signal was weak to non-existent.
All that said, I would rush back to Hotel Raya and Panarea at any opportunity. Paradise.
